No one wants to talk about the end of their life, but there are things you should know as you enter that stage that will help you recognize the progression. This session educates you on Trajectories of Illness, so you know what to expect and reduce the shock. It will also provide an overview of choices available when the time comes as well as types of care that can help with managing their pain and reduce stress for everyone.
We discuss how to make final arrangements, hopefully with your parent so there is agreement before they are needed. We discuss grief, how to work through it, how to help others, and how to recognize it progressing into depression so you can find the way out.
There’s always more to making final arrangements that many forget about. These are items and situations you may have after your loved one is gone. We talk about how to close accounts, businesses, partnerships, and other arrangements that may have been in place.
We then talk about Estate Plans, if your parent owns anything you need one of these. We include a list of documents needed and how to make a plan to get them completed.
This time is usually the most difficult. Our goal is to help you through it with grace, dignity, and confidence.
